A little more rain during the night before an early start
for the run down to Marrakesh.

Don't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express! |
We took advantage of the motorway again, this time
travelling in a loose convoy, breaking the trip halfway for fuel and
refreshment. Again rain showers dogged our journey but they were interspersed
with sunshine – at one point we saw an intense rainbow, which unfortunately was
in our mirrors so no photo I’m afraid.

An isolated farm settlement

Through the rain clouds the Atlas Mountains started to appear in the far distance. |
As we progressed, the countryside started to change with isolated areas of cultivation and large tracts of desert scrub – this, along with the run-down settlements, was more like the Morocco we expected to see.

Motorway traffic hazard! |
Late lunchtime we arrived at Camping Ferdaous, around 10km
north of Marrakesh in bright sunshine. Several others of the group were just
moving on so we took over their pitches as there appeared to be some problems
with the electricity elsewhere. Awning and chairs out and time for lunch!

All accounted for |
Once settled and sorted a decision was made to hire the site
minibus and travel into the city for the evening, but of course it started to
rain so that was cancelled – frankly we didn't fancy getting wet and the
weather is still a bit unreliable. Nevertheless a few changed their minds again
and took a taxi in – we decided to stay put. However, one or two others were a
bit put out……. We’ll go in for the day tomorrow.
