Today we simply must start heading north - Morocco is quite a big country and we really hadn't noticed how far south we'd come. So saying goodbye to one of our favourite spots, we left Taghazoute for the N1, destination probably Essaouria which we had been told was lovely and well worth a visit.
The road follows the coast for a while then heads into the foothills of the mountains. Plenty more photos - here are a few.

Argon trees everywhere |
Although the distance wasn't great, the hills and bends meant that progress was slow. We took a break for lunch then in early afternoon the satnav took us to a campsite featured in the book, just outside Essaouria, that seemed to have all the facilities we needed - in particular washing machines and showers!
However we were not initially impressed and even when parked up we were not happy. A visit to reception to register finally clinched it - we're not staying here. We have been made welcome everywhere but here there seemed to be a take it or leave it attitude, the "chef" gave us the creeps and when he wanted to take all the passports enough was enough. Thank you but no thank you.
Fortunately there was another site about 10km away and which was well signposted, La Calme. It too had all we wanted and turned out to be a very pleasant spot, parking amongst trees with plenty of room - and we were made welcome! Pity it is some distance from town with no public transport but we had other priorities this time, so settled in and enjoyed some lovely sunshine.
